Costa Dorada is Spain's aptly named 'Golden Coast'. Stretching from Barcelona down to the Roman city of Tarragona, this beach-rich coastline is home to countless unspoilt villages, sophisticated towns and bustling holiday resorts, all bathed in glorious sunshine. Bright and breezy Salou is the Costa Dorada's principal tourist area and boasts an elegant palm-fringed beach promenade. La Pineda is another popular holiday haunt and plays host to the region's water park, Aquopolis. Nearby Cambrils, meanwhile, is less touristy, set against the backdrop of a traditional Spanish fishing village, while further along the coast lies the chic seaside town of Sitges. Just a stone's throw from Barcelona, this beach resort has retained an authentic Spanish air and over recent years has become a firm favourite with gay travellers and holidaying Barcelonses.
